On Tuesday November 10th, TAME (Teachers Against Malaria Epidemic) launched a Branch of the Organization at Royal Kids Academy and Foase District Assembly Junior High School, at Foase Atwima, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. 12 teachers joined the organization and immediately set to work to install 50 bed nets in the homes of the school children who ranged in ages from 2 to 5 years.
Nets were also installed in the homes of 4 other pregnant women in the town. Among those present at the launching ceremony was the Queen Mother of the Foase Community.
The new TAME volunteers vowed to carry out the work of the national TAME organization in this community:
- Continue to see bed nets for the organization
- Continue to install the bed nets in the homes of the school children as well as pregnant women in the community;
- Engage in environmental clean up to eliminate the breeding grounds of the malaria carry mosquitoes;
- Teach the children and the community about proper usage of the bed nets and personal hygiene to avoid illness.
- Monitor the health of the school children in their classroom and seek help for the sick.
